All this started on the day I got placed in TCS. Inspite of all suggestions from all my friends, I selected my prime ILP location as Kolkata. And I got it too, it was supposed to be my base branch for as long as possible; apparently most of the people who were given that center were having same case, only difference in my case was that I ain't from Kolkata like the rest. Anyways, I started my journey from home after getting all my documents made and everything planned out according to my choice, but I was left with one problem, place to stay. I said to myself, how hard it would be find a place to stay give that Kolkata, unlike the rest metro citites in India, was the cheapest one. So I made up my mind and reached here on 3rd of March 2013.
But fate has already planned an ecstatic journey for me already and so it begun. I started my day with checking out my reporting office location which turned out to be a classy one "The Godrej Waterside, saltlake". I really liked the office and the building, o my!! Although the factor was that it was my first job in IT industry and I have waited really long for this break. After all joyous moments I spent in admiring the building I finally thought of seeing some houses to stay. I started with the one I had found an ad for a new apartment ready to move in, near Kaikhali. But the apartment manager was very rude and he wont let me see the apartment. My first day in Kolkata passed out in these things only. Second day also was the same , rushing all day wit my backpack and a bottle of water seeing all the places I could find to stay. But I didn't like any of them. So finally , my dad made some arrangement with a guy who happens to be a relative of one of my uncles. The has a friend who runs a PG here, but its too expensive, I mean the rent is almost the rent of a 2BHK furnished flat in Kolkata. The rule and regulations were very uptight, and he was speaking as if he's providing a honeymoon suite and I'm like comeon, its a PG for gods sake, lets have some perspective and talk reasonably. But no, he has got is egoish nature in is head. So i talked to my dad and I decided not to stay there. The situation is, "tommorow morning I have to join and I dont have a place to stay yet; and the time is 9PM".
But that's not the worst part, the Mr. Ego's , servant happens to put my luggage in the office and lock it and gone to him home. The Ego couple has gone for a 1hr walk and i dont have any clue how to get my luggage of there. After an hour they came and I asked him to open t he office so that I can get my luggage out. But to my utter surprise, the guy says: I don't have the keys , my manager keeps it with him." I was like I will kill you if dont open it right now, my all joining documents are in there. To add up to my trouble my phone's battery and balance goes down. I was completely helpless. But a nearby neighbor shows up and he helped me out of the phone problem. I called Mr ego and asked wat we can do to get my documents out of there and he reply rudely tat there isn't much we can do about this. I begged him like I haven't begged to anyone before, after alot saying and cursing he called up a guy to get a key made and got my luggage out at 2AM in the morning.
I was everywhere and nowhere on my joining TCS until that 2AM moment of 6th March,2013.
And joined TCS kolkata at 8AM.
